Frequently Asked Questions
- Does everyone in the family need to buy it? Everyone who uses MFBP Chores on their own iPhone needs the app. With Family Sharing, the people in your Apple family get it with one purchase. Kids without an iPhone don't need it at all: a parent ticks off their chores for them, and they still earn.
- Is there a subscription or anything to unlock? No. You pay once and get every feature, with no subscription, no in-app purchases and no ads.
- How do I share my household? On the Household tab, tap Invite Someone and send the invitation. When they accept, everyone sees the same chores, and who did what. Sharing uses iCloud, so each person needs to be signed in to iCloud.
- How do kids use it? On a kid's iPhone, open Settings, tap Who's Using This iPhone and choose the kid. They see only their own chores, plus ones for anyone. When they tick one off, a parent approves it from the Kids tab, and they earn its reward.
- What does the parent passcode do? It keeps a kid's iPhone from switching to a parent, so kids can't approve their own chores. It's required once there's a kid in the household. Change it in Settings › Parent Controls.
- What are jobs? Extras anyone can pick for a reward, like washing the car. Parents add them from the Kids tab under Up for Grabs. A kid picks one on their Jobs tab, does it, and logs their time with a note, and a parent approves it before it pays.
- Why does a chore say missed instead of overdue? Chores on set days or every day are missed if they aren't done on their day. A missed chore earns nothing and comes back on its next day instead of piling up. A kid can tap I Did It if they forgot to tick it off, and a parent can keep it missed, excuse it or mark it done. Turn Can Be Missed on or off for any repeating chore in its editor.
- How do I get notified when a kid finishes something? On a parent's iPhone, turn on notifications from the card on the Kids tab, or in Settings › Approvals. Press and hold a notification to approve without opening the app.
- How do I keep track of what I owe? The Kids tab shows what each kid has earned. On a kid's page, tap Mark as Paid once you've paid them.
- Can I tick chores off without opening the app? Yes. Add the MFBP Chores widget to your Home Screen or Lock Screen and tap a chore's circle. Or turn on the daily reminder in Settings › Reminders, and press and hold it for a Done button for each chore.
- Is my data shared with anyone? No. MFBP Chores has no accounts, ads or analytics. Your household stays on your devices and in your own iCloud. See the Privacy Policy.
- I found a bug or have a feature request. Email support@mfbp.io with what you were doing, your iPhone model and iOS version, and we'll take a look.
